With more than two decades of work experience in the architectural field in the United States, Toygar Targutay has made significant contributions to the successful realization of a wide variety of global projects. Before his return to M CO Design in 2021, Toygar was a Senior Associate at the prestigious Los Angeles branch of Gensler. Preceding his time at M CO Design and Gensler, he was a key member of KSS Architects LLP based in Princeton, New Jersey.

Toygar’s decade-long association in Gensler spanned from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2015 to 2021, during which he played an instrumental role in the Lifestyle 5 Mixed-Use Studio’s success mainly focusing on residential, hotel, office, and retail mixed used developments. As a key senior designer and job captain his experience covered a diverse scale and type of projects including the prominent 5th and Broadway mixed-use project in Nashville, TN, covering 2,220,000 square feet; the 130,000 square feet Palisades Village in Pacific Palisades, CA; the vast 4,500,000 square feet Carolina Yards in Cary, NC, and the 17,000 square feet Larchmont Village Retail Plaza in Los Angeles, CA.

Other notable projects in California include 56,000 sqft Shigeru Ban's Ashes and Snow Nomadic Museum in Santa Monica, CA, 110,000 sqft Beverly Connection Condominiums in Beverly Hills, and the 500,000 sqft Starwood Eagle Lodge Hotel and Condominiums in Mammoth, California. His versatility extended beyond design as he adeptly handled the responsibilities of People Director within the Lifestyle 5 studio.


 

Toygar’s professional journey also includes seven years of collaboration at M CO Design. As M CO’s ‘Project Director’, Toygar plays a vital role in the successful delivery of M CO's architectural and design services. His primary responsibilities include the supervision of design teams and managing communication flow between M CO and clients. In parallel role as Senior Project Designer, he also helps shaping the design vision of M CO's work.

Toygar strives for excellence in fulfillment of client goals and innovative thinking in all his endeavors. Toygar's unique skill set and attention to detail has led to the successful delivery of large and complex projects in both China and the United States. As a LEED Accredited Professional, Toygar is also an advocate of sustainable design.

Toygar received Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, Turkey, and Master of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.
